“I was given a development assignment with a large corporation focused on Global Strategic Security Technology Services. I was new to the position, and the Securities Strategy Team had numerous strategic projects to deliver which were in various stages of development and implementation. The team was divided into four separate but integrated departments with no comprehensive long-term vision and/or detailed strategic plans. Much of the work being done was reactive and misaligned with budgets, staffing, customer needs, and support staff from other departments within the organization. I had contacted Matt as I knew he had addressed similar issues with other departments inside our organization with successful outcomes. Matt shared a five year vision/strategy methodology he termed “5 Bold-Steps” that would become the framework for a longer term detailed strategic plan that aligned people, process and technology to meet our growing business needs and challenges associated with global implementation and key stakeholder alignment. Matt, along with our management team helped to clarify our opportunities and challenges using his “5 Bold-Steps” methodology. This was cascaded down through our four different departments responsible for product and service delivery of new and existing projects. The result was a detailed roadmap of deliverables that were leveraged further to engage key stakeholders, support groups and customers to ensure we were allocating resources and deliverables to the best opportunities. Initially, people were skeptical and thought the plan was over ambitious based on the past performance of the group. By the end of year three, we had accomplished about eighty-five percent of our objectives and were well on our way to achieving the remaining goals set for the group. The group had even been recognized and given an award by our industry professional organization for excellence in employee development that was a key part of our strategy to increase the team’s credibility with internal and external stakeholders. I would recommend Matt as both a business and coaching consultant as he transformed our business and my career at the same time.”
